Eat to live (or die). thedavidsonienneatgmaildotcom |
It started on Tuesday.
One of my lovely coworkers was out Monday, after scoring a gig with her son on Emeril! There are so many foodies in the world! My coworker and her young son are into cooking, so were selected to be featured in a show with Emeril on Food Network. Maybe Emeril is not my favorite chef, or celebrity chef, per se, but the son loves him and thinks of him as his idol. Also, if someone asked me if I wanted to be on any cooking show anywhere, I would probably not be complaining about that or turning it down. As far as I heard (unfortunately calling in sick to go see would have been far too transparent), the crew filmed them as they went on a little shopping expedition for some Whole Foods product placement, then they filmed little bits where the son would cook with Emeril, interviews, etc. I can’t wait to see the final result. And it’s a tear-jerker ending, you guys - Emeril took our little friend under his wing, said he would call the culinary school to make sure he got in, and told him he has a standing invitation to work with him. Awww, wow. I nearly cried when his mother told me this (yes perhaps I am a bit emotional). I am assuming it isn’t just “something Emeril does for everyone” - this kid sounds pretty talented and at such a young age. It’s very exciting for him and his mom. If you aren’t getting goosebumps you have a cold, cold heart. The show will air in December methinks - keep you updated on that one, dearest readers.
Later that day, after the blissful recounting of her time meeting all the Food Network stars and the potatoes au gratin and the slideshow of pictures, I found out our firm was undergoing major layoffs. Everyone was shaken up - you can’t imagine the horror and panic crashing down like waves upon our desks, flooding the hallways. Thankfully, none of the foodies mentioned (including moi) were put out of a job.
