Just went to the lovely farmer’s market at Penn Quarter after work, and there was an Oyamel booth!  This occurrence totally overshadowed the fact that a nice little man gave me some special Japanese turnips for free (stir-fry them! he said).  I was so pleased to see the chefs with their little Oyamel logos.  They were serving a cute tapa with butternut squash puree on a chip!!  DELICIOSO!  My favorite moment, however, occurred when I engaged a friendly one about how Diana Kennedy is coming to their restaurant next week.  ”I get to pick her up at the airport tomorrow!!!”  I am sure I acted like a giddy child when he said this.  OMG OMG OMG.  DIANA KENNEDY AT OYAMEL.  Can you stand it?  I love you Jose Andres.  For your special allergy menu and guest-starring on Top Chef (new season starts November 12) and bringing the queen of Mexican cooking in the United States to your restaurant even though she is nearly ninety!  Ever since that October day when I sat eating duck confit at Jaleo during your theatre menu hours… I knew it was meant to be.
