Perhaps intrigued by the faint scent of the climbing stock market, Williams-Sonoma, one of my favorite stores who must employ the silliest new media marketing team, has released a mass email advertising what? Yes, you read correctly - morning buns! Buns for the morning. Wake up to the smell of buns, friendly breakfasting creatures. See there below; they do look like quite tasty, flaky but chewy, sweet little things. I, however, cannot miss the opportunity to poke fun at this advertisement. I suppose it is to the credit of W-S that your buns will be shipped overnight to preserve freshness. But this scheme goes against all the latest food trends that I am hoping will become nationwide efforts for the good of our health, the environment, and the economy (Three large issues at stake at the polls, eh? Did I forget to mention oil? That, too. Williams-Sonoma will not be carrying your buns via The Eager Donkey Express.): the local food trend, the sustainable farming hopefuls, and general revelations (not really, but to some) about the benefits of fresh, anti-processed foods.
These buns are $44 and will not improve the buns you already have.
